Plays, keepsakes, and other material from Mary Louise (Towles) Brecher and Leonard Brecher. Some of the material relates to their late high school and collegiate experiences in Louisville. A significant portion relates to Mary Lou Brecher's costume design work, and their work at the Little Theater. Another significant portion relates to Leonard Brecher's involvement with nature conservation organizations, including the Audubon Society. University of Louisville Archives and Records Center also holds the Leonard Brecher Louisville theater history collection. Mary Louise (Towles) Brecher and Leonard Brecher (1900-1976) grew up in Louisville and married soon after graduating from the University of Louisville. They were both active with the Louisville Little Theater Company. Mary Lou designed costumes for productions in the 1930-1950 period and Leonard served as president of the Company in its last years. He was also active in researching the history of the Macauley Theater, and assisted the project to copy the Macauley Photographic Collection at the University of Louisville.
