Content Description
John Hardin and Ruby Evans met while Hardin was serving overseas during World War II. Evans was a native of Wales, and Hardin hailed from Louisville, Kentucky. Soon after their friendship began, Hardin was killed in action on the European continent. Ruby Evans (later, Ruby Price) began a correspondence with Hardin's family in Louisville that continued into the 1980s. This collection includes letters and postcards from Ruby Evans Price, as well as letters between John Hardin and his family during the war. Hardin was an amateur boxer, and there is a small amount of material relating to that activity. In addition, there are letters of condolence and records relating to his funeral and reburial in the United States, as well as the family's efforts to receive the proceeds of his life insurance policy.
