Content Description

Woodrow F. Thacker, 1913–1997, was a Louisvillian who served in the European theater during World War II as a vehicle mechanic in the U. S. Army’s Thirty-Fifth Division. The single file includes the soldier’s enlistment and service record as well as military transmittals and notes in the field, including a note of the receipt of four German prisoners. There are approximately 35 small photographs of soldiers and scenes taken in France in the last days of the war as well as photos of his 1943-44 training days in Muskogee, Oklahoma, including a visit by his wife, Lenora. Finally, there is a program and badge from Thacker’s attendance in Kansas City, Missouri in 1947 of a 35th Division reunion.
