81 cabinet cards photographs, 4.5 x 6.5 inches, marked “Newsboy” featuring portraits of actresses and actors, circa 1880s – 1890s. Newsboy cabinets were given away as ‘premiums’, by tobacconists or drug stores, when making a purchase of plug tobacco produced by the National Tobacco Works of New York. Collection includes photographs of well-known actors Lillian Russell, Mary Anderson, and Edwin Booth.
