Correspondence, pamphlets, newsletters, orders of service, and other material relating to Elizabeth Howard's experience in a summer service program with the Plymouth Settlement House in Louisville, Kentucky. Ms. Howard was a high school student at the time, participating in a United Church of Christ youth program. This collection also includes a substantial body of correspondence from Lyman M. Johnson, a Plymouth Settlement House staff person with whom Ms. Howard developed a friendship during the summer program. This correspondence covers the period he served in Vietnam.

Biographical / Historical

Elizabeth Howard, then a high school student and resident of New Hampshire, participated in the United Church of Christ's summer service "camp" at Plymouth Settlement House in Louisville, Kentucky in 1966. After her summer of service, she returned home, attending Plymouth State University (BA), Pratt Institute (MS) and the George Washington University (MA). Her career has focused on communication in many forms, including marketing, journalism, and literary works for children and adults.
