This miscellaneous group of programs from, and reviews of, musical performances dating from 1920 through 1934, belonged to Bessie Hand Browning. The collection contains programs from the Brown Theatre, the Louisville Municipal Auditorium, and other theaters, schools, and churches in Louisville, representing mainly events sponsored by the Community Concert Association, the Civic Arts Association, and the Wednesday Morning Club. Included in a few of the programs are sketches portraying the performing artists. It is arranged in chronological order.
The copyright interests in the Bessie Hand Browning Musical Louisville Performance Programs and Reviews Collection have not been transferred to the University of Louisville.

Browning taught music and worked in administration in the Louisville Public Schools (later the Jefferson County Public Schools) for over forty years. She also taught part-time at the University of Louisville.
