In series one, administrative files, Box 1 deals primarily with setting up the Breast Cancer Demonstration Project (BCDP) at the University of Louisville and also includes grant applications and correspondence pertaining to the breast cancer program. Box 2 has manuals from several other breast cancer projects, the Clinical cancer training program grant application, and correspondence with American College of Surgeons, 1966-1973. In Box 3 can be found correspondence with the American Cancer Society, 1965-1972 and with the Cancer Coordinating Committee of the Kentucky Medical Association. Here are also research grant applications and BCDP correspondence and meeting minutes.
Dr. Moore's research files, Series 2, are contained in Box 4, including data on the thyroid's effect on tumor growth and the effects of tobacco on throat and mouth cancers. Series 3, Dr. Moore's writings are in Boxes 5, 6, and 7. Box 5 contains his published writings and their hand written rough drafts. Included are materials on Smoking and Mouth Cancer, Cancer of the Cervix, Modified Pelvic Exenteration, two movies, Cancer of the Hypopharynx, and The Office Biopsy. Box 6 holds drafts, handwritten and printed, of his book A Synopsis of Clinical Cancer. Also included are correspondence with book publishers, permission letters from other doctors, and book reviews. Box 7 contains Thyroid paper and the research for it, drafts of Cancer and Smoking, and correspondence pertaining to his published articles. Boxes 8 and 9 contain the printed articles that Dr. Moore collected on all sorts of cancers. The research material used for several of his projects - tobacco studies, thyroid, and preoperative radiation, are also in this series.
