Biographical / Historical

Glenn A. Price, Sr. (born 1908), a native of Gaston County, North Carolina, moved to Louisville in his early twenties. A veteran of World War II, Price was a manager at South Central Bell Telephone for forty-five years.

Glenn Price was active in the government of the sixth class city of Kingsley which led to an early involvement in the Jefferson County Government Conference, a consortium of fourth, fifth, and sixth class cities in Jefferson County.

Price's papers reflect his interest in government consolidation (merger) back to the 1950s and correspondence, minutes, reports, clippings and reference materials document his membership on the Morton-Wyatt study committee and the Local Government Improvement Committee. Additional files document Price's membership on both the 1982 and 1983 Charter Revision Commissions. Finally, there are clippings and a report on the Gruen Plan, a proposal for the revitalization of downtown Louisville.
