Mann Butler was an early Kentucky historian. Elizabeth Wilson had completed a biography on Butler for a proposed Masters degree at U of L, but it was not accepted because she had not taken the required German language to support the thesis. Her talk on Butler was presented at The Filson Club in 1925. She did complete a master's degree in Sociology in 1938.
