Felix Coblens was the winner of the annual prize for the best notes on the lectures of Professor Lunsford P. Yandell Jr for the 1874-75 session of the University Of Louisville Department of Medicine. The leather bound volume contains a considerably condensed version of Dr. Yandell’s presentations on therapeutics, and occupy 456 pages, plus an index.

Felix Coblens was born in Kentucky in 1851. His parents were both from Germany. Dr. Coblens practiced medicine in Louisville until his death in 1927. He and his wife Ernestine Anna Hempel, are buried in The Temple Cemetery.
