Biographical / Historical

Tinsley Randolph Harrison 1900–1978) was an American physician and editor of the first five editions of Harrison's Principles of Internal Medicine. He taught at Vanderbilt University's school of medicine, the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in North Carolina and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas. Harrison spent the greatest part of his teaching career at the University of Alabama School of Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, where he served as Dean and chairman of the Department of Medicine.
