Biographical / Historical

Juanita McFarland was born in Asheville, NC on September 7, 1888. She graduated from the Tennessee Medical College in 1911, and was licensed in 1919. She practiced and worked in public health in Harlan, Kentucky prior to her appointment to the Kentucky Child Welfare Bureau in 1923 where she worked until her death. She married John D. Jennings c. 1918, and they had two children, John D. and Ann M. Dr. McFarland died in February 1940 of breast cancer.
