This collection contains the minutes, constitution, and an occasional program and piece of correspondence from 1948 to 1987, with the exception of the minutes for the period 1969-1973. In addition to documenting the activities of the organization and its membership, these records include synopses of scientific talks, reports of the group’s Maternal and Foetal Mortality Committee, eulogies, and relationships with other medical societies.
There are no restrictions on access to the records. The minutes are complete except for the period 1969-1973.

The first annual meeting of the Kentucky Obstetrical and Gynecological Society was held in April, 1948. Its first president was Dr. W. O. Johnson of Louisville. Its stated objective was to promote “knowledge of obstetrics and gynecology among the physicians of the State of Kentucky.” Its membership was not limited to specialists in the field.
