Biographical / Historical

The Kentucky Society for Crippled Children was organized by the Rotary Club in 1923 to establish a central bureau to supervise all work pertaining to the welfare of crippled children. The Society was established to initiate, coordinate and direct the securing and compiling of information concerning the care, cure and education of crippled children in Kentucky. They also directed surveys and oversaw clinics in each county, and hoped to establish medical centers throughout the state. They lobbied for legislation to assist crippled children and their care, in order that crippled children in Kentucky would have the most efficient medical, surgical and educational facilities.
