J. Samuel Bumgardner was born in Horse Cave, Hart County Kentucky to Harry and Bettie Locke Bumgardner on June 28, 1901. Dr. Bumgardner graduated from the University of Louisville School of Medicine in 1928. He practiced as an Ear, Nose and Throat specialist in Louisville for 41 years and was on the faculty of the School of Medicine.
