This collection of mostly Civil War era instruments were collected by Dr. Linville and consist of tweezers, nose forceps, towel clamps, curettes, folding tongue depressor, nose saws, tuning fork, broncoscope, tonsil loops, mouth spreaders, tracheotomy kit, cytoscope kit (Wappler), mouth mirrors, syringes, gouges, scalpels, mastoid buns, sounds, dilators, forehead mirror, glass nostril cup ends, ear cups, tiny funnels, saw blades, needles, surgical clamps, bulb thermometer, cables and other unidentified instruments.

James T. Linville was a 1955 graduate of the UofL School of Medicine. He was a historian with a particular interest in the Civil War and medical history.
