Oscar Krueger was born in Fayette County, Texas, the son of Charles and Emily Harteke Krueger. He graduated from the Louisville Medical College in 1907. After graduation, we went to Europe to study surgery, most notably with Dr. Adolph Lorenzo, an orthopedic surgeon at the University of Vienna. He returned to the U.S. in 1914, and failing health required him to retire from his medical practice in Texas in 1919.
