The Southeast Indiana Comprehensive Health Planning Council was formed in 1970 in order to meet federal planning guidelines for accepting funds to improve public health in the area. This area consisted of 17 counties in southeastern Indiana, including Floyd, Clark, Harrison and Scott counties, which had previously been part of the Falls Region Council.
