Letter from Maupin to his father in 1852, describing professors Frazee and Mitchell. The letter also refers to an Eclectic physician named Lyman (in disrepute at KSM), to Dr. Miller and to “Uncle Charles” another doctor from the same county as the two just listed. He also describes a Pierce rally held by the Louisville Democrats.
In addition – in the collection of matriculation tickets, there are two for Maupin at Kentucky School of Medicine; 1) for Dr. James Bush’s lectures on anatomy (1850) and Dr. D. Cummins’ class on practical anatomy (1852-1853).
John W. Maupin was born in 1832 in Madison County, KY and studied at the Kentucky School of Medicine, graduating in 1853. He married Sarah Campbell in 1870. He died in 1921 in Madison County.
