This collection contains indexed notes on lectures by Edwin S. Gaillard at Louisville Medical College, 1871-72, taken by Dr. Lewis. It also contains a Physicians Daily Pocket diary, 1879-1881, belonging to Dr. Lewis.

Meriwether Lewis, MD was born in Virginia in July 26, 1848, the son of Meriwether and Amanda Cosby Lewis. He attended the Louisville Medical College, graduating in 1872. He practiced medicine in Newport, TN. He married Rebecca Jennie Gentry (1859-1950). They had five children. He died in Newport, TN December 15, 1890 at the age of 42.
