This collection contains photocopies and/or photostats of the transcript of the court-martial of Joseph W. Benson of Louisville for fraud and negligence for supplying bad feed for military animals during the Civil War.
These papers contain manuscript material relating to the 1937 flood in Louisville, as documented in newspapers, magazines and miscellaneous sources.
During the early 1960s, Charles Castner produced a public affairs series called "Kentucky Profiles" for WHAS radio. Later, Castner, a longtime railroad history enthusiast, worked as a public relations and information officer for the L & N Railroad Company, subsequently the Seaboard Systems Railroad.
Scrapbooks containing clippings of and relating to Jean Howerton Coady's "Nostalgia" series in the Louisville Courier-Journal. This series highlighted different stories from Kentucky's past, most often focusing on the Louisville area.
The material includes an autobiography of Frederick; information on old homes in Jefferson County; cemeteries, marriages; land sales; family histories; historical topics including Old Louisville, floods and markets. Frederick's notes concern local history from 1780 to the 1950s. An additional scrapbook, covering Louisville churches, was received separately.
