Loring's papers include published works, photographs, a resume, graduate material, and newspaper clippings. His study of the Zeeman Effect is documented. There is one file relating to his association with the Oak Ridge Institute of Nuclear Studies. Also included are photographs documenting experiments and experimental results, and the Ohio River flood of 1937.

This collection consists of a scrapbook of the 1937 flood in Louisville, Ky. The clippings include almost entire copies of twelve flood edition issues published by Louisville papers and printed out of town.
The Patsie E. Sloan papers document her police service and her role as a PTA leader. They also include a report on the 1937 Ohio River flood and her 1937 student paper, "A Study of the Louisville Division of Police." A small portion of the collection relates to Sloan's son, John Steward Sloan, and her other children.
