These papers document Salem Ford's athletic interests at Male High School and at the University of Louisville through photographs and scrapbooks (created using stenographers' notebooks). The collection also contains photographs documenting Ford's experiences during World War I, and images of the Ford family. Also included is a typescript copy of "Reminiscences of S.H. Ford, Capt. CSA, 1861-1865."
This is an artificial collection of yearbooks and reports from various primary and secondary schools in Louisville, including Girls High School, duPont Manual dating from the early 1920s, Male High School from the 1910s and early 1930s, St. Xavier High School from the 1920s, and Kentucky Military Institute ("The Saber") from 1944.
Jefferson County and the City of Louisville maintained separate school districts until they were merged in 1975. These are directories of school officials, individual schools, and all faculty and staff, preceding the merger.
