The Cooperative Welfare Association served as the "company" union for the Louisville Railway Company, a private holder of Louisville's major street rail franchise. These records are minutes kept by that association.
Includes books, clippings, logs, schedules, and other materials relating to railroads and public transit (particularly street/electric rail), primarily from the 20th century. Much of the material relates to the Louisville and Nashville Railroad Company, but other companies (and regions of the country) are represented as well. Boxes three and four consist of books.
The Betacam commercial stock videotape is a dub of 16 mm movie film of streetcars in Louisville recorded by Dr. Howard Blackburn. Another copy, on 16 mm (U-matic) tape is also held in the Archives. The recording is silent.
