Montgomery's outgoing correspondence spans the years 1922 to 1928 and is addressed to a childhood friend, Lynn Faulkconer. In his correspondence, Montgomery narrates his struggle with tuberculosis at facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio; Saranac Lake, New York; and both Hazelwood and Waverly Hills hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky. The collection includes several photographs from his Hollywood years, including images of Douglas Fairbanks' swimming pool and silent film star Alma Ruben.
Collection contains a ledger of student records transferred from the Waverly Hills Sanitarium to the Louisville General Hospital School of Nurses. It also contains the report of a LGH committee who reconstructed the curriculum in 1943 so they could supply transcript-like information (‘Proof of Theory and Practice’) needed by the alumnae of Waverly Hills for licensing and continuing education purposes.
