These papers contain notes and working drafts of Davies's book, as well as his correspondence with professional and amateur botanists regarding Shortia galacifolia.
The collection includes student papers, manuscripts, correspondence, reviewers' notes, field and laboratory notes, reports, material relating to the Atomic Energy Commission at Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and other university material. There are also oral history interviews with Krumholz in the Oral History Center collection.
The notebooks are from Middleton's student days at Johns Hopkins University; the text, College Biology, vol. I and II, is a college biology texbook written for a course taught at the University of Louisville.
