Tavern Club Roster

Scope and Contents The Tavern Club, was a Louisville private social club, formed in 1901 and in 1911 located at 620 South Third Street. This single-volume roster was transferred from the regional reference files at the University Archives and Records Center.

Content Description Typescript of a semi-fictional personal narrative of the detonation of the first atomic bomb at Alamogordo, New Mexicon on July 16, 1945. The author was present at the detonation, serving as the military representative accompanying Los Angeles Times correspondent Alexander Reid. It is not entirely clear which components of the narrative are factual, and which are fiction. Included with the typescript are two sheets of background information about the author and his role in the events.

Content Description The files include correspondence, memoranda, reference materials, demographic data, briefs, pleadings, and other materials generated in defense of the Louisville city school board in the desegregation suit brought against the board in the early 1970s. Triplett served as the attorney for the Louisville city schools during the desegregation lawsuit and subsequent merger of the city schools with the Jefferson County public school system.
