WDRB basketball and football videotapes

Content Description The bulk of this collection consists of tapes of WDRB (Fox 41) television broadcasts of University of Louisville football and basketball games, 1992-1995. In addition, there are tapes of broadcasts, also from WDRB, of the Denny Crum Show, the Ron Cooper Show, the Howard Schnellenberger Show, and live call-in shows, 1990-1998. The tapes are a mixture of Beta and UMatic formats.

The Beanery: a village named Ormsby, James W. Settle memoirs

Content Description Two copies of Dr. Settle's memoir concerning his early childhood as a charge of Ormsby Village children's home, his schooling at the Kentucky Military Institute, his Navy service during World War II, and his life since that time. The memoir also documents his participation in marching bands and his service as a flight inspector during the war for Consolidated Aircraft Corporation, also known as Consairways Transport Service. Dr. Settle became a dentist after the war and settled in California.

Blake Beem Papers

Scope and Contents The papers consist primarily of materials related to Miss Beem's retirement in 1961; Commonwealth of Kentucky and Medical Library Association certification materials; biographical materials and photographs; and an address given to the Kentucky Association of Trial Attorneys. Also of interest is a chronology entitled "Highlights of the Medical School Library, 1935-1961."

Belknap, Inc. Records

Scope and Contents The records of this large national hardware distribution company were donated to the University Archives in 1986. The firm was one of Louisville's most important from the 1880s until the 1970s, when it experienced difficulties. Belknap Theater Records

Scope and Contents This collection contains materials from the Theatre Arts and Speech Department chronicling the activities of the Belknap Theater. The collection dates from 1916 to 1975 and includes programs/playbills, newspaper clippings, scene photos, and photos of people (headshots). Office records from the Belknap Theater Playhouse office dating from the 1950s to the 1970s are also included in two boxes.

Content Description Consists of personal memorabilia from the Louisville Orchestra, and photocopies of a manuscript on the history of music in the Louisville Public Schools, 1825-1935 and a biographical letter on Caroline Bourgard (a pioneer in music education) as well as notes from a talk by Berkey on Bourgard.

Bernheim Foundation Records

Scope and Contents This collection contains minutes from the Board of Directors meetings at the Foundation, correspondence relating to the foundation and Bernheim Forest, and also legal and financial records for the foundation and forest. Planning materials and reports concerning Bernheim Forest and articles written about it are also included. There are some personal documents of I. W. Bernheim included and several photographs and scrapbooks.

Scope and Contents Louisville philanathropist Isaac Bernheim, a native of Germany, emigrated to the United States in 1867, followed within two years by his brother Bernard. Isaac and Bernard established the Bernheim Brothers Distillery in Paducah, Kentucky. In 1888 they moved the company to Louisville where Isaac became known as a civic leader in the local Jewish community and in the city of Louisville. Betty Smith photographs

Content Description Betty Smith attended the University of Louisville in the 1930s and belonged to Pi Beta Phi sorority. These seventeen snapshots were found in a photograph album belonging to Smith by her daughter and donated to the University Archives and Records Center in May 2009. They are labeled and date from 1936 and 1937.
