The scrapbook was compiled in a discarded guest register from the Mammoth Cave Hotel. It includes documentation on the commercial development of Mammoth Cave in the late nineteenth century, including news clippings and promotional materials. Some of the original pages from 1886 and 1887 were still visible, showing the guest register. Other materials added to the scrapbook include information about the Clements family, national politics, and Roman Catholicism. A sketch of Vanderbilt University and programs and other items of the Christian Brothers College in Memphis are also present. Some Clements family correspondence from 1890 to 1910 was also included. Other family members added to the volume following Henry Clements' death in 1909. Microfilmed in Louisville, Ky. by University Archives and Records Center, University of Louisville, in 1982.
