Biographical / Historical

LaVal T. Duncan was born in Louisville in 1907. He attended elementary school in Bloomfield, Kentucky, and high school at Simmons University, Louisville, then earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Ohio State University. In 1934 he joined the staff of Mammoth Life and Accident Insurance Company as special agent, rising through the ranks to field auditor, cashier, assistant Treasurer, Treasurer, and Vice-President/Treasurer. Duncan was also a member of numerous civil organizations and served on the boards of several businesses and organizations, including the Louisville Municipal Housing Authority and the Red Cross Hospital. Duncan died in Louisville in May 1979.
