Biographical / Historical

Warren Kellar Frederick was a native Louisvillian who compiled twenty notebooks, seventeen of which are extant, of diverse information on the history of Jefferson County, Kentucky, from 1780 to 1925. Patterns of land ownership in eastern Jefferson County and the stately residences built there were of particular interest to Frederick. He photographed or collected photographs of over 360 structures, most of which have been leveled or surrounded by suburban development. The original photographs and use copies are held in the Photographic Archives; the notebooks in University Archives.
