Hugh D. Rodman was the son of John Hearst and Mary Ann Hogan Rodman of Kentucky. He married Mary Josephine Fowler in 1877, and they had at least five children: Mary Frances Rodman Coomes, Beatrice Rodman Hurst, and Paul, Joe H., and Charles W. Rodman. Dr. Rodman attended Notre Dame University before graduating from the University of Louisville Department of Medicine in 1871. He practiced in Nelson County, KY for all or most of his career.
