Lauretta Hicks Jones photo books

Consists of two spiral-bound genealogically-focused books and a spiral-bound volume focusing on memories of Central High School in Louisville, Kentucky. The genealogical books are described as being inspired by Ms. Jones' husband, William Jones, and other relatives who "thought it was important to have a book of photo visuals that would capture faces, reflect relationships, and highlight joyous (and challenging) family moments together." One features the Hicks family, the other the French family. Both contain reproductions of documents as well as photographs. While focusing on specific families, these books also document life more broadly. The third book focuses on Central High School, which was established in 1882 to serve Black students under de jure segregation. It includes some photos and reproductions of diplomas and other documents, but consists primarily of graduating class lists. A related hard-bound volume, "Henry Wise and Mary Roberts Jones: Five Sons: A Photo Journal of Six Generations, 1873-2013" was received with these materials but has been cataloged separately. These books were created by the donor, Lauretta Hicks Jones, in collaboration with friends and relatives.
