The Kentucky Institute for the Environment and Sustainable Development (KIESD) was formed by the University of Louisville in 1992 to “provide multidisciplinary research and applied scholarship, teaching and educational outreach, and public service on issues of the environment, its protection, and sustainable development at the local, state, national and international levels.” KIESD has provided both the general public and the state’s research community with the tools and the space to work towards a brighter future by promoting research, education, and outreach in environmental engineering, sciences, policy, and sustainability.
