Montgomery's outgoing correspondence spans the years 1922 to 1928 and is addressed to a childhood friend, Lynn Faulkconer. In his correspondence, Montgomery narrates his struggle with tuberculosis at facilities in Cincinnati, Ohio; Saranac Lake, New York; and both Hazelwood and Waverly Hills hospitals in Louisville, Kentucky. The collection includes several photographs from his Hollywood years, including images of Douglas Fairbanks' swimming pool and silent film star Alma Ruben.
