Tom Murray was editor of the Cardinal for the 1978-1979 academic year. In keeping with a tradition of "April Fools" issues, April 13, 1979 issue was satirical in nature. The University administration asked that Murray apologize for some of the content; when he refused, he was removed from office. He subsequently filed suit on the grounds that his free speech rights had been impinged. The court found in his favor. Murray continued to write prolifically after graduation.
