In 1998 Keith Runyon, Pulitzer Prize winning journalist and editor of the Editorial and Forum pages of Louisville’s Courier-Journal, undertook research on a full length biography of Moss Hart. Gaining access to the papers of Hart and his associates held at repositories including the Wisconsin State Historical Society, Library of Congress, New York Public Library, and Yale University. Runyon intended to write “Act Two,” the story of Hart’s life beyond his autobiography Act One. This archive includes Runyon’s research, drafts, correspondence with editors and literary agents. Except for Keith Runyon’s drafts, proposals and correspondence with literary agents and editors, the collection consists exclusively of photocopies of materials from the aforementioned repositories. The material photocopied dates between 1922–2004, with the bulk dating between 1941 and 1961. The drafts, proposals and correspondence are from 1998 to 2000. The folder titles listed below are the titles established by Keith Runyon in the course of his research.
