Victory News

 Collection — Box: 1
Identifier: 1997_124-UA

The "Victory News" was an informally produced newsletter, published by Sylvester Connell, and distributed world-wide to military personnel from the California and Parkland neighborhoods of Louisville, Kentucky. Most of the soldier recipients had lived in the vicinity of Victory Park, thus the name "Victory News." The issues contained sports scores, excerpts and/or summaries of other soldiers' letters home, jokes, cartoons, neighborhood gossip and morale boosts. The "News" was distributed monthly for thirty-four months, starting in March 1943 and ending in with number 34 in December 1945. This collection consists of issues numbered 4-5, 8-34.
