This collection contains personal and professional writing, consisting of the personal journals of Hal M. Warheim (formerly known as Harold M. Warehime), and published and unpublished writing consisting of scholarly manuscripts, poems and sermons.
Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary professor Dr. Hal M. Warheim, served as Associate Professor of Christianity and Society (1962-1979), Professor of Christianity and Society (1979-1995), and Professor Emeritus of Christianity and Society (1996-present).
Beyond his service to Louisville Seminary, was active in community improvement. In 2004, Warheim lead the effort to establish what would become Warheim Park in Louisville’s Belknap neighborhood. He also served on the Board of Directors of the ACLU of Kentucky and ran for public office for 3rd ward alderman twice. He led demonstrations for the Committee for Open Housing and organized and coordinated Religious Leaders for Fairness, both activities leading to his arrest for participation. A prolific and gifted writer, Warheim was a member of The Cherokee Roundtable writers' group and author of a published collection of poetry, A Bouquet of Thistles (Whitewater Publications, 2003).
