This collection contains six photographs, two are tintypes. Five are of the same man, presumably Dr. Wingfield. Two of these small photos were taken in Louisville, one in 1876 and the other in 1878, the years Dr. Wingfield was in medical school here. The large photo was taken in Prescott, Arkansas. The other is of a house with two people standing on the porch and a horse drawn buggy in front of the house with a woman in the buggy. The back of this photo reads, “Home of S. H. and Sallie Wingfield during the 1860s. Father and mother of William C. Wingfield.”
William Cryer Wingfield was born in Arkansas, the son of Samuel Hobson and Sarah (Sally) Mobley Wingfield. He attended Louisville Medical College in 1876 and the Kentucky School of Medicine in 1878, returning to Pike County, Arkansas to practice. He married Josephine Lamb in Arkansas in 1882. In 1886 they moved to Prescott, Arkansas. Sometime after 1893, the family moved to Shawnee, Oklahoma. Dr. Wingfield died in Oklahoma in 1924.
