This is a collection of five letters from Dr. Sutton to his father and brother in the period 1816 through 1830.

William L. Sutton was the son of John and Nancy M. Coleman Sutton. He received his medical education at Transylvania University, Lexington, Kentucky and the Maryland Medical College. He practiced medicine in Scott County, Kentucky for most of his adult life. He was married three times and had eight children. Sutton pioneered the movement for the collection of vital statistics in Kentucky and was one of the founders of the Kentucky State Medical Society.
